HUPMOBILE shows the results

HUPMOBILE Final Seminar summarized the three years and the results that the project has focused on, providing a holistic approach to sustainable mobility solutions in port cities of the Baltic Sea Region. The webinar gathered interested attendees from many parts of the Baltic Sea Region and beyond.

The webinar was officially opened by Mr. Tero Haahtela from Aalto University together with Ms. Inga Pelsa from the City of Riga.

Riga, the host city of the event, arranged a nice virtual tour to the city with current projects and future outlook. The presentations showed Riga’s actions towards climate neutrality and sustainability by different actions. After that, Mr. Sami Sahala from Forum Virium had a keynote speech on how the Baltic Sea Region cities are the drivers for the change in the way towards sustainability. The speech and the related discussions showed how important it is for different BSR cities to share existing knowledge and in cooperation develop novel solutions together in joint projects.

The second part presented the results and elements of the HUPMOBILE approach as a road towards holistic mobility and planning. After short project introduction, project partners presented the solutions and practices developed and applied during the project by the cities.

The third part of the Final Seminar was about the evaluation of the project results, future development ideas and projects. To foster the ideation, Mr. Lucian Zagan from Eurocities gave a keynote speech “Designing choice for urban mobility decarbonisation: EU policies and local challenges from the EU viewpoint”. The discussions and conclusions showed the relevance of HUPMOBILE project as a joint holistic approach to the planning, implementation, and management of sustainable mobility solutions in Baltic Sea port cities.
