One of the targets of the Hupmobile project has been building cross-sectoral competence networks to support the matching of the public sector challenges with private sector competencies in the field of intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
In order to support that project all together 8 networking events were organized during the project. There were seminars during the large scale congresses like ITS European Congress in Eindhoven (2019) and ITS World Congress in Hamburg (2021), but also several networking visits took place – like international networking event in Riga with more than 60 participants. One of the biggest challenges was how to organize the networking during the COV-id pandemic. Therefore several online-events were also organized between the ITS networks of Baltic Sea Region.
Main outcomes of the networking activities were:- Stronger ITS networks in national and international level in BSR region – strong connections between ITS associations of the region;
- Private sector representatives and universities have better understanding of the public sector challenges in mobility and transport;
- Public sector representatives have more info of the potential solutions and competencies of private sector and universities;
- More trust between different stakeholders;
- Concrete pilot projects and initiatives between public and private sector entities have started after the events (like on-demand based autonomous last mile prototype in Ülemiste City etc.)
- First steps to move jointly towards higher level R&D activites (Interreg, Horizon Europe etc).
