HUPMOBILE city-wide simulation tool helps compare the impact of policy decisions

In the beginning of February, the latest advances regarding the SUMO simulation tool were presented during the Södertälje Science Week’s “Connected, Visible and Transparent Supply Chains” seminar. The seminar presented three industrial case examples on current visibility challenges and provided an insight into technologies that can be applied to make supply chains more transparent in the future.
By using the SUMO tool, one can simulate various urban mobility parameters related to sustainability and thus, help decision-makers make better decisions throughout the supply chain. It can also enable better dialogues with the stakeholders if there is a possibility to present different scenarios regarding sustainability and optimization. The example shared during the seminar was based on using the HUPMOBILE Production Logistics Generic Simulation Model on Södertälje.

Södertälje Science Week is a yearly event attracting thousands of visitors from industry, research, citizens, and public authorities. It is a cooperation among a wide number of partners and the aims are both to foster discussion between the stakeholder as well as to inform the audience. This year the event was held solely online.
