Joint cooperation and development model for Turku

The City of Turku has completed a model for joint cooperation and development for the port area. The model aims to combine and integrate different expertise areas, including a plan for engaging the stakeholders in the development processes.

Last week, two HUPMOBILE webinars were held by the City of Turku (Finland) in cooperation with the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) Sustainable Cities Commission. The first webinar focused on the topic of "Developing ports and their neighbourhood" and had five presentations with two Q&A Sessions. The presentations from both webinar days are now available.

The recently published feasibility study “Logistics Hub Altona” summarizes the past and present key knowledge on microhub projects in an evaluative manner and uses their collected expertise in combination with the diverse demands of the city of Hamburg to identify locations suited for micro hubs in the district of Altona.

As part of the HUPMOBILE project activities focusing on developing the port area in the City of Turku, the Linnanniemi pop-up exhibition alongside participatory side-events was held in the Turku city centre in late autumn 2020. What kind of feedback did they receive and what did the City of Turku learn from these different ways of involving citizens?

Marketta Kyttä (Aalto University, DBE) presented the results of Turku region survey results and the accompanying mobility lifestyle personas that were done during the HUPMOBILE project with the students in two seminars this spring. 

One of the targets of HUPMOBILE project is to bring closer together and support networking of the ITS community in Baltic Sea region. As we miss these days when side conversations and all other social aspects were possible in real meetings, it's time to find new ways for virtual networking.

In the beginning of February, the latest advances regarding the SUMO simulation tool were presented during the Södertälje Science Week’s “Connected, Visible and Transparent Supply Chains” seminar.
