The project aims to provide a holistic approach to the planning, implementation, optimisation and management of integrated and sustainable mobility solutions in Baltic Sea port cities. Mobility in this context includes both people and goods - the greener urban logistics and combinations of goods and passenger traffic as well as intelligent traffic systems based services, tools for stakeholder participation and new tools for transportation mobility management and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). The project itself builds upon the mobility and urban planning projects such as Baltic Urban Lab, CIVITAS ECCENTRIC, cities.multimodal and others, and will continue to find synergies with the currently active projects in the field of urban mobility in the Baltic Sea Region. 

A mix of research and piloting 

The project activities consist of a mix of research and piloting innovative methods - providing the project with a solid basis for creating mobility solutions that would be scalable and transferable to other cities in the Baltic Sea Region. The piloting cities are Turku(Finland), Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia) and Hamburg/Altona(Germany) - all four being the port cities of the Baltic Sea. Each of the piloting cities will have a slightly different perspective to project activities which will complement the project objectives as a whole - from logistics to commuting, from transporting goods to transporting passengers and exploring the mobility-related needs of the residents of the port areas.

Would your city be interested to follow the project and test some of its solutions?
